DM Press Conference on Panchyat Election and Liquor Prohibit



During the press conference today DM Balamurugan D briefed media personals about the upcoming Panchayat Elections. The nomination for the election will start from 03rd March 2016 till 09th March 2016 and the election will be held in 10th phase.

As the modal code of conduct comes in effect, no new schemes can be announced till the elections are over. However the ongoing projects will continue. All the candidates must adhere to rules and code of conduct as Lak Sabha Elections. They must obtain prior permission for taking out processions or organizing any event. Further speaking DM said that it's important for the candidates and supporters to restrain from making personal or derogatory comments and this is important keeping in mind that 50% seats are reserved for women.

The election will be held to elect - Jila Parishad, Panchyat Samiti, Mukhiya, Ward Member, Panch and Sarpanch.

Speaking on Liquor Prohibition which would come in effect from 1st April 2016, he said only 31 English Liquor shops (4 in Benipur and 27 in Darbhanga town) will be allowed to continue. Other than the allowed shops, if any seller caught they will be punished under prohibition act.

DM further sought media personals to actively participate and provide feedback to administration.
